All players are welcome from enthusiastic beginners to county and / or club players. Players will have up to four hours per week of badminton related activities, including individual racket skills, drills and preparation for match play. All Academy players will receive additional support and advice on strength and conditioning and gain access to the College’s extensive fitness facilities.
There will be sessions at both Truro and Penwith campuses to allow the College to field the strongest combined team in competitions.
The College plays in the British Colleges Sport tournaments and cups, with the opportunity to qualify for the national finals, as well as a range of county and regional schools tournaments. In recent years the badminton team has been very successful on a national stage; they have been finalists in the BCS National Cup for four consecutive years. In 2013 the South West Team at the National BCS Finals consisted of seven Truro and Penwith players from a team of eight. In 2014 the Truro & Penwith College team won the BCS National Cup beating Bilborough College.
