The Health and Social Care sector is diverse and holds multiple career pathways for your future. Health and Social Care professionals are both well qualified and have a passion to work with people. The course provides opportunity for first-hand experience in the work place which can highlight a variety of options for the future and equally allows for the academic study of a range of topics related to Health and Social Care. This course is ideal for those wishing to study for an initial qualification and pursue a career in the Health and Social Care sector. This may involve direct entry into employment in the care services, or further study towards a particular Health and Social Care profession such as nursing, social work or teaching.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSE passes at grade C to E or successful completion of Introductory Diploma in a relevant subject.
Course Content
You will have to successfully complete a variety of core units and option units which will include:

- Vocational Experience
- Equality and Diversity
- Human Lifespan development
- Health and Social Care Values
- Impact of Nutrition on Health
- Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing
- Work Experience, Not mandatory but students will be encouraged to participate in work experience in a health or care setting.
Assessment
All units are assessed and graded at pass, merit or distinction, and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. One unit will be graded through an external assessment, others are internally moderated and verified.
Method of teaching
Throughout the course students, who are in moderately sized groups, have speakers, visits and teaching from specialists in the field. They also participate in student-centred learning and research.
Progression
With further study or training students can work towards a variety of careers in Health and Social Care such as Nursing, Social work, Youth Work and more. This course can prepare you for employment in the care sector or can provide grounding for more advanced study on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, possibly leading to study at University.
