100% success rate for future chefs

Published: Friday, July 27, 2012

Students finishing the Professional Cookery qualification at Truro College had good reason to enjoy their Awards Ceremony, with a 100% pass rate.

Two students received special awards for their outstanding achievements. Daniel Stephenson from Truro received the Level 1 certificate as his work has been consistent and competent throughout the year and applying himself to his studies. Kyle Tonkin from St Austell received the Level 2 and was recognised for good practical skills and as an asset in the catering industry.

Hayley McKinstry, Team Leader said: “This course is proving very popular; all the students have worked incredibly hard.  They have had some phenomenal opportunities this year including working with top chefs in Cornwall at the Fal River Festival, being part of the team making the Olympic Torch celebration cake for a civic event at Truro Cathedral and making canapés for many events at the college.”
