Bob Stacey, wing manager from HMP Dartmoor and a fellow prison officer gave a fascinating insight into their lives as a prison officer. They told the story of an imaginary offender and their journey – from the moment they are ‘taken down’ to their full immersion in prison life. It was a real eye opener to the prison system and one that our students of law, Psychology and Public Services all found to be immensely valuable in helping them understand the experiences of all those involved in our legal system in more detail. The stories they shared were eye-opening, for example weapons concealment, stories of violent acts and the undercover dealings within our prisons.
Bob travels around schools in the South West on his days off to share his experiences in the hope of trying to discourage anyone from following a criminal path.
