Local university photographers say goodbye

Local Photography degree students reached the end of their course with an exhibition at Lander Street Gallery.

A selection of work by students studying Photography and Digital Imaging degree at Truro and Penwith College was displayed, culminating in a celebratory evening and prize-giving.

The climax of the evening was the award for Most Improved Photographer sponsored by Cornwall Cameras. Jason Hoole-Jackson who had studied the course part-time over 4 years was awarded the prize, of a £50 voucher for Cornwall Cameras, saying “I was surprised and delighted to receive the award. I was part of such a talented group of photographers so I am truly honoured to receive the award”.

Programme leader Marcus Way, described Jason as a “superb student who has been dedicated to his work throughout his time on the course. Marcus continued stating, “This year’s graduates have been at an exceptionally high standard and I’m very proud of what they have achieved. I look forward to seeing them again at their university Graduation ceremony”.

Jason concluded the event saying, “The lecturers and staff have been incredibility supportive and inspirational throughout. I would recommend the course to anyone wishing to study a photography qualification in Higher Education”

The Photography and Digital Imaging Foundation Degree will restart in September with places are still available, call 01872 267122. As for these students, they graduate from Truro Cathedral later in the year.
