Course Overview:

The responsibilities of managers can vary from business to business, but their valuable role in ensuring the smooth operation of a business is vital across all industries. A manager’s role can involve identifying and using learning styles, setting SMART targets, conducting appraisals, being creative and innovative, empowering and motivating teams and managing budgets and resources.

The Management Advanced Apprenticeship provides the necessary skills to enable first line managers to successfully operate in a business environment. You will develop skills and knowledge to ensure that your organisation provides a high standard of service, that your staff and teams are well supported to maximise their abilities and that your business remains highly competitive and successful.

Course Content:

This Apprenticeship includes the following elements:

  • NVQ Certificate in Management Level 3
  • Certificate in First Line Management
  • Level 2 Functional Skill in Mathematics
  • Level 2 Functional Skill in English
  • Level 2 Functional Skill in ICT
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities (Work-book)

At level 3 the Advanced Apprenticeship will develop skills, knowledge and understanding to help become a more successful manager. The course is designed to develop practical techniques and managerial skills in a number of areas including, solving problems, making decisions, developing others, planning change, time management, working efficiently, leadership, building the team, coaching and training and effective meetings. You will also develop skills in analysing numerical information and communication relevant to your job role and develop an understanding of employer rights and responsibilities.

 Delivery Method: Apprenticeships are achieved through a blended learning approach, incorporating taught sessions, workplace learning and assessments and online learning. One-to-one support, tuition and advice are available from our team of experienced and qualified tutors, assessors and advisers.

Time Commitment: A minimum of 13 taught sessions (days) over 26 weeks, taught sessions for functional skills (if applicable) and an initial one day induction. Plus regular workplace visits plus online learning and self directed study. A significant amount of written work needs to be completed between taught sessions.

Assessment: This Apprenticeship is achieved by attending taught sessions, completing 8 written assignments, a work-based portfolio and doing timed and work-based assessments.

  • Senior Leadership and Management
  • Coaching and Mentoring

Costs

The majority of the training costs delivered by the College for Apprenticeships is funded. There is a required employer contribution towards this as follows:

  • Apprentices aged 19+ = £250.00 Employer Contribution or £500 for large employers

Apprenticeships at Truro and Penwith College are only available to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
