Business Administration Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship
Course Overview: Business and Administration plays a crucial role in organisations by handling day-to-day tasks and making sure the office runs smoothly. Administrators require a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail because their roles may involve organising people and resources, acting as personal assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors. At level 2, the Business Administration Apprentice may be responsible for typing up documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, daily postal procedures, photocopying confidential documents, information communication and technology skills.
Course Content: This Apprenticeship includes the following elements:
- Level 2 Certificate in Business and Administration
- Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Administration
- Level 1 Functional Skill in Mathematics
- Level 1 Functional Skill in English
- Level 1 Functional Skill in ICT
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities (Work-book)
This Apprenticeship develops skills in a variety of administrative duties including producing business documents, effective business systems, equipment and resources, business writing, resolving problems, communication and many more. The Apprenticeship also develops skills in analysing numerical information and communication relevant to the job role plus develops an understanding of employment rights and responsibilities.

Delivery Method: Apprenticeships are achieved through a blended learning approach, incorporating taught sessions, workplace learning, assessments and online learning. One-to-one support, tuition and advice are available from our team of experienced and qualified tutors, assessors and advisers.
Time Commitment: A minimum of 12 taught sessions (days) over 24 weeks, a one day induction, and taught sessions for Functional skills (if applicable). Plus regular workplace visits plus online learning and self directed study.
Assessment: This Apprenticeship is achieved by attending taught sessions, completing a work-based portfolio and doing timed and work-based assessments.

- Business and Administration L3 Advanced Apprenticeship
- Customer Service Apprenticeship
- Team Leading Apprenticeship
Costs: The majority of the training costs delivered by the College for Apprenticeships is funded. There is a required employer contribution towards this as follows:
- Apprentices aged 16 – 18 = Free
- Apprentices aged 19+ = £250.00 Employer Contribution
Employers must pay Apprentices a wage (minimum of £2.65 per hour). Apprenticeships at Truro and Penwith College are only available to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
