This is a 4 day programme, held over 8 weeks, is specifically designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to become a more successful manager. The course helps to develop practical techniques for tackling managerial problems and decisions, developing yourself and others and leading and motivating your team.

Two day computer courses available on Thursdays and Fridays at Haven House

Computing is a much needed skill in the workplace and a big part of many jobs. Our friendly and helpful staff have carefully tailored a course to improve the skills you need to get ahead.

The courses below can be tailored to suit you, so if there’s something you would like to spend more time on, it can be arranged.

Word Processing

Working with Word, from basic text and paragraph formatting, to inserting tables and graphics.  Boost your skills with mail merge and have an introduction to Microsoft Word 2010.

Spreadsheets

Increase your Spreadsheet skills, from formatting, functions and formulas, to worksheets, workbooks and data, we’re here to help.

PowerPoint Presentations

Make PowerPoint easy, from presentation design, proofing and printing to slide masters, manipulating slides and slide contents.

Introduction to Databases

Dip in to Database, from forms, tables, and reports, filtering and field properties, to indexing, searching and relationships.

These courses are priced at just £50 each but can be fully funded and offered for free if you are unemployed (subject to eligibility).

Functional Skills

Course Title

Functional Skills

Summary

Functional Skills are nationally recognised qualifications available to anybody at any age who would like to gain practical skills in English and Maths.

Entry Requirements

A willingness to learn and an interest in Maths, English and basic IT up to Level 2 (GCSE equivalent).

Course Content

Designed not just to help you with English and Maths, Functional Skills provide you with the knowledge of when and how to use these skills both at home and at work.

How do I study?

Functional Skills are available at Level 1 and Level 2 so you can choose which is right for you. Level 1 is the equivalent to a grade D-G at GCSE and Level 2 is equivalent to grade A-C.

This course runs on:

Mondays and Thursdays at 9.00am – 10.30am or 10.30am – 12.00am

This course is run on a rolling programme and you can start at any point in the year.

Each course is 6 weeks long. An assessment is taken at the end.

Course Overview

The Level 5 Advanced Apprenticeship in Management is ideal for middle and senior managers with a wide span of control and accountability for performance, in particular those with responsibility for determining resource allocation and operational methods in their department or organisation. The programme has been specially designed to give practising managers a solid foundation for their formal development, building up a wide range of management skills and gaining the comprehensive leadership and management knowledge required, via the Level 5 VRQ Diploma in Leadership and Management.
