Share with your friends
The College has put together this helpful guide to help you prepare for Results Day, whether you are collecting your GCSEs, A Levels, T Levels or Vocational Diploma results.
The guide covers strategies to deal with exam results stress, collecting your results, what to do with them and the support available if your results are not what you expected.
The build-up to Results Day
Exam results can be a stressful time, in the days leading up to Results Day it’s normal to be anxious about what your results will be. This line of thinking is unhelpful and can take a toll on your mental health. If you can, try to avoid thinking about your results until you’re opening them on the day, and remind yourself that you did your best.
Successfully completing your exams is an achievement that you deserve to celebrate, regardless of your results. If you find it hard to ignore your worries, BBC Bitesize recommends acknowledging your feelings and talking with a trusted person who won’t increase your worries further.
Use the time leading up to your Results Day to practice self-care, meet up with loved ones and distract yourself with your hobbies. If you’re particularly stressed, remind others around you that you do not want to discuss exam results until Results Day. Remember, there’s a good chance that you have done better than you’re expecting.
The big day
Being aware of the high-levels of support Truro and Penwith College is offering its current and future students throughout the results process can ease your worries. Take time before the big day to understand what you need to do and how to access the support available if you need it.
Level 3 Results, Thursday 15 August
Truro and Penwith College students who are due to receive their Level 3 results on Thursday 15 August (BTEC, A Levels, Cambridge Technical, T Levels and UAL) can find information on collecting their results on the College intranet.
If your results don’t meet your entry requirements for your chosen university and you need help, senior members of staff will be available when you collect your results at college.
If you don’t receive the grades that your university asked for, the first step is to contact them to see if they are prepared to make another offer to you. If this is unsuccessful, UCAS has published some helpful advice.
Clearing
If you aren’t accepted by your chosen university you may wish to apply for another university through clearing, which is a process where universities offer remaining spaces on courses to students who may not have hit the entry requirements for their first choice or for those who have changed their mind about the course they want to study after receiving their results.
Make sure you’re prepared by reading through this handy What is Clearing? guide from UCAS.
