Small Class Sizes
During the HNC, learners will carry out data collection and analysis in collaboration with several outside agencies while adding to a central database. The research will take place both in and out of the lab.
Variety of Learning Experiences
While some of the lectures will be in a classroom and based on theoretical understanding, much of your time will be spent learning and honing practical skills and techniques in the lab. Your assessment style will also vary, from lab books and reports to scientific posters and presentations.
Highly Specialised Staff
Learners will work with staff who have many years of teaching experience in their field as well as a wide range of further scientific work.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This is an opportunity to gain a level 4 (HNC) qualification at a Platinum Science Mark provider. Courses are typically taught over 2 days per week as full-time options or one day per week as a part-time option, providing an opportunity to maintain employment alongside study. This qualification may also be suitable for higher-level apprenticeships within a scientific field.

WHERE WILL IT TAKE ME?
Learners will work with a number of agencies and employers to develop technical expertise both on and off-site applicable to a wide range of scientific careers including microbiology, laboratory work in the health sector, environmental management and fitness industry.
This programme will provide you with an understanding of theory and a range of skills to enable you to gain employment, or progress in your current role across a range of scientific fields.
The programme emphasises a deeper professional practice and gives the opportunity for producing an appropriate portfolio that demonstrates growing professional expertise. On completion of this course, learners may be able to progress directly onto employment, an apprenticeship or a relevant higher level programme.
This courses method of assessment is entirely Coursework.
In order to gain a place on this course you will need 48 UCAS points including a minimum equivalency of one A Level in addition to GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
