Your training and experience will include the following duties: Working quickly to mix and apply different types of plaster to internal walls and ceilings, carrying out solid plastering and applying wet finishes and applying protective coverings on external walls such as pebbledash and sand or cement render. You will study in our specialist Seaton facilities, as well as use the most up to date professional tools and equipment. The course is designed to prepare students to be ‘work ready’, creating a ‘real world’ Plastering experience delivered by passionate individuals with many years’ experience in the trade, who are are well equipped to advise and deliver students onto the career pathway they desire.
To bolster progression the College works with local employers who contribute to the knowledge and delivery of this training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided.

What Will I Learn?
You will learn all about the different elements of the Advanced Plastering route, enabling you to perform to the expected level within industry. The units are designed so that you learn the practical skills involved, as well as getting an overview of how a construction site is run including the rules and regulations. Building sites are very strictly controlled, so it’s important that you learn about building regulations. You will take six compulsory units including:
- Principles of organising, planning, and pricing construction work
- Running in-situ moulds
- Applying plastering materials to detailed interiors
- Applying plastering materials to detailed exteriors
- Producing reverse moulds for detailed fibrous plaster and cement casting
- Producing and fixing detailed fibrous plaster and cement casts
Where Will It Take Me?
Successful completion of a Level 3 Plastering Diploma can be the doorway to many other routes within the construction profession, as well as giving the option of progression into Higher Education, into a higher apprenticeship or on to a T Level. You may also become self-employed working as a sub-contractor.
Entry Requirements
You need to have achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Plastering and have a GCSE Grade 3 in English and Maths. You must have a keen interest in construction and a good work ethic. You must be able to work alone and as part of a team and to demonstrate commitment to the course.
Information & Support
We provide all of the tools and materials for the course, however you will be responsible for your own PPE and will be required to come equipped with a pair of steel toe capped boots and a pair of safety glasses.
