VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Studies

This course builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing or will develop a complete repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior hairdresser/stylist. Learners will have their hairdressing skills assessed in a real working environment.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser/stylist including: health and safety; client consultation; shampoo and conditioning hair; the research unit - working in the hair industry; cut women's hair; colour and lighten hair and the art of dressing hair. These units are all mandatory.

Learners will also develop their understanding and skills base by selecting a number of optional units from a range of specialist units which includes: reception duties; create an image based on a theme; provide scalp massage services; promoting products and services to clients; and perming and colouring hair. This qualification structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon their designated career pathway as a junior hairdresser/stylist.
