Jewellery

Monday or Tuesday

Using forming and doming techniques you will be making unusual bead-like jewellery components. You will be encouraged to use texture and shape by using the rolling mill and other metalwork tools and skills. The finished forms could be used to create a variety of jewellery pieces such as lockets, pendants, rings or earrings.

Photography

Monday or Friday

Explore photographic techniques and skills using both digital and analogue processes to create some stunning images. Use cameras, computers, paper and chemicals and produce a range of images to take home.

Pottery/Ceramics

Tuesday or Friday

We will start by exploring different textures and surfaces around the College. These textures will be transferred to clay slabs. You will be taught the technique of slab building to create your chosen style of pot, be it a mug, a jug, a desk tidy or vase. You will then decorate your pot with coloured clays. Through this hands-on ceramics workshop, you'll find out how far your creativity and ideas can take you.

Digital Drawing

Wednesday

This introduction to digital drawing provides learners with the opportunity to experiment with both traditional and digital drawing techniques. Using a graphics tablet you will learn how to combine these different ways of working to produce a range of character concept designs for a video game.

Introduction to Weaving

Wednesday

During this session you will learn fun tapestry weaving basics and decorative elements of weaving. Learn how to warp a frame loom, use tabby, soumak and rya knotting techniques. You will produce a freeform woven hanging with the focus on texture, pattern and colour. This class is designed for both beginner weavers and also those wishing to develop their weaving style. Looms and tools provided for the duration of the class.

Printmaking

Thursday

Explore and learn how to design and screen print your own natural calico tote bag and pack of cards with envelope. The day will begin researching and creating your own individual designs such as a geometric pattern, botanicals, landscape or words using a range of drawing materials. You will learn how to take your design into a hand cut stencil, set up your screen printing bay, mix two colours, though to pulling your own design onto your tote bag and cards.
