Cornish Skills

One of Cornwall’s top hair and beauty skills competitions, which tests the talents of local students before a celebratory evening catwalk show, is being held on the 26th February 2018, this year with the theme of Fairy-tale.

Cornish Skills is a growing event, which has now been running for over ten years and is attracting a lot of attention. After analysing the contestants’ work the judging panel, made up of well-recognised professionals in the hair and beauty industry, will make the tough decision of who goes home with the trophy.

The students will be given a specific time to create their look of choice, and judges will be invited along to mark the students’ performance and final hair or nail style, whilst also judging them on their work process. Later in the evening, students will showcase their work to an audience, where all of the looks are to be shown to fellow students, family members and staff.

Hayley McKinstry, Programme Team Leader of the Hair, Beauty, Complimentary Therapies and Catering department at the College, said of the event: ‘The Cornish Skills event is a great way to showcase some of the amazing talent we have here at Truro and Penwith College, and what it is like to be reviewed by professionals in the industry.'
