GCSE Results Advice

While GCSE results day might look a little different this year, it’s still a time where excitement and stress can walk hand-in-hand.

GCSE results are now available online. Please use the link below to access the Intranet.

Luckily, Truro and Penwith College is here to help you through it and to make sure your results work for you.

New Guidance - Tuesday 18 August 2020

  • You will now receive your centre assessed grades for your GCSE results.
  • We expect to receive these on results day and will post them out to you as previously planned
  • If you urgently require your results on the day because they are linked to your progression, please email the exams office who will be able to send them in an email. Please only request this service if it is urgent as we have limited capacity within the office to respond to a large volume of enquiries at once.

Receiving your results

If you have already applied to the College, when you receive your results it’s important to give us a call at your allotted time slot to confirm your place with us.

You should have received a letter during the summer with your Course Confirmation phone slot. It is essential that you phone during this slot to make sure everyone is able to get through to the College.

This phone call is also your opportunity to change your course/ subject if you have changed your mind. A minor subject change can usually be made during this call but a more complex change may mean that a senior member of staff will give you a call back later in the day.

If there is a need for you to come into the College for an advice session, a member of our admission team will organise a meeting for you between the 24th-26th of August. This meeting will be socially distanced and we ask you to only bring one adult along with you. Most advice will be carried out over the phone in line with government safety guidelines.

If you have not received your email, please let us know ASAP by emailing enquiry@truro-penwith.ac.uk.

If you haven't applied to the College, it's not too late

Any late applications are welcome.  Applications can be sent in electronically.  Those students will need to phone the Admissions Team on 01872 267000 and they will be informed when to come in for an interview (these will be held 24 – 26 August).

No matter your results, whether you did better or worse then expected, there will be something for you at Truro and Penwith College.

Give our admissions team a call on 01872 267000 and they will discuss your options with you.

Post-GCSE Options

There are lots of different options to choose from that cater to all abilities and interests.

If you want to keep studying a variety of subjects, A Levels make a great choice. With over 40 subjects to choose from, you will be able to mix and match your choices depending on your interests or possibly which career you want to go into. With state-of-the-art science labs and computer suites complete with industry-standard software for games development, art and design, modern sport and music equipment, and more, the buildings, facilities and staff at the Ofsted Outstanding Truro and Penwith College are all there to help you make the most of your A Levels.

If you have a strong idea of the career you want to pursue, vocational courses offer the chance to study in a more hands-on way. With courses ranging from Hospitality to Construction and from Sport to Engineering, there is something for everyone.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a fantastic route to higher education as it gives you a chance to study a range of subjects alongside other enthusiastic students. While challenging, the course has been hailed as a great experience that prepares students incredibly well for university. Truro and Penwith College is the only college in Cornwall to offer the diploma and has seen two students in recent years achieve a rare perfect score for the diploma.

Apprenticeships offer the chance for you to earn while you learn. With a range of roles to choose from, starting an Apprenticeship is a great way to see if your chosen career is right for you. From Hair and Beauty, Accountancy and Carpentry to Marketing, Administration and Hospitality, there is an Apprenticeship to suit everyone. Take a look at the College's Vacancies Page to see what's available now.

T Levels are a BRAND NEW option for this September. This new qualification combines classroom theory and practical learning with an extended industry placement of 45 days. T Levels are Level 3 courses and are equivalent to three A Levels. They provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door to highly skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher level study. Around 80% of your time will be spent at College with the remaining 20% being spent at your placement. Choose from Digital, Production, Design and Development, Education & Childcare or Construction: Design & Development.

The College's unique academies are an optional extra to add to your College experience. You can excel in your favourite sport, receive help on applying to study Medicine at university, take part in an eSports championship or learn something new every week; Academies really are a great way to add breadth to studies.

And remember to celebrate with us!
