Apprentices are buzzing to get back in the salon

Hair and Beauty Apprentices were excited to get back into the College’s professional salons when they reopened last week.

The College’s Inspiration Professional salons officially reopened on April 12 to a week of fully booked appointments, after being closed since the start of January due to lockdown restrictions.

Students who choose to complete a Hair and Beauty Apprenticeship with the College work and train in the College’s state-of-art professional salons, located in Truro city centre and at the College’s Penwith campus in Penzance.

Not only do apprentices get to learn from lecturers who are experts in their fields and have access to professional product brands, but they also gain important industry experience, providing them with the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Hairdressing Sector.

Hair and Barbering Apprentice Abi, who is from Hayle and works and trains at the College’s professional salon at Penwith, was excited to be back in the salon after spending lockdown training at home: “It’s really good to be back and working with clients again. I love working in all aspects of the salon, from hairdressing to cashing up, it’s all great industry experience”.

Hair and Beauty Apprentices were excited to welcome customers as the College’s professional salons officially reopened.

On the benefits of her Apprenticeship with the College, Abi said: “By doing an Apprenticeship you gain lots of experience working with different clients. This has hugely helped me in building my confidence”.

The College’s professional salons are now open throughout the week and offer a range of hair and beauty treatments including full head colour, highlights and bailage to facials, manicures and pedicures and more.
