Bowled over to be South West Champions!

Foundation Studies students at Truro and Penwith College are celebrating winning the AOC Boccia South West Championships in an amazing performance against Bridgewater and Taunton College, who are good competitors and also did well.

Tutor Sam Mitchell saw it all unfold and says: “We are very happy and proud of our students’ success! They won ‘4:2’ and gelled really well as a team.”

Boccia, pronounced “bot-cha,” is a sport like boule or bowls that is accessible to all, so anyone can play. Earlier this year College Boccia players competed in a Virtual Boccia competition, playing different games using balls and beanbags and won a new Boccia set as a prize.

The ‘Foundation Studies’ department is for students with additional learning and support needs. The students learn in an inclusive and friendly environment, as well as doing many trips and activities, including winning regional tournaments!
