In 2016 Truro and Penwith College European projects helped over 500 people to explore new study and career routes as well as start up new businesses. Among them was Ben Fullman, who now works for the charity Shelterbox, and Lora Bennett-Rees who chose to do a Foundation Degree in Early Childcare Education at Truro College.

Ben Fullman, Shelterbox

Ben achieved a Social Media for Business qualification, after which he obtained a new job as Social Media Officer for Shelterbox.

“The support from the ESF project and Truro and Penwith College meant that I could build on my degree to give me the necessary skills to secure a job in social media”

Lora Bennett-Rees, Foundation Degree, Early Childcare Education

After receiving support and guidance from Truro and Penwith College, Lora felt inspired to study a degree in Early Childhood Education at Truro College.

“Before I started this course I was feeling a bit lost. I spent time with the team at Truro College looking at my study and funding options and this Foundation Degree jumped out at me - I knew this was the course I wanted to do. Following an incredibly useful Higher Level Skills Day, I was ready to enrol and am now looking forward to continuing my studies.”
