Virtual reality, stick insects and live music proved incredibly popular draws for the Truro and Penwith College stand at the Royal Cornwall Show.
With a great position by the main arena, thousands visited the stand eager to find out about the wealth of opportunities and courses available at Truro and Penwith College.
Showcasing the College’s state-of-the-art technology, visitors were treated to an immersive virtual reality gaming experience.
While users played a target practice game with a headset on, friends and colleagues could watch their efforts on a giant screen.
Other star attractions proved to be the stick insects, sewing up banana skins and health-monitoring tech, which gave members of the Science department a chance to inform about the range of science courses available at the College Medic Academy.
Completing the busy stand’s interactive offering, the Sports department tested people’s reaction speeds with a fast-paced, moving light game, with a FitLight system popular with Premier League goalkeepers.
Also showcasing the incredible talent at Truro and Penwith was College band Violet Avenue, which performed on the BBC Radio Cornwall stage at the Royal Cornwall Show.
College Deputy Marketing Coordinator James Gool, said the Royal Cornwall Show had been a great success.
“It was fantastic to see so many people interested in what the College is doing and it gave them a chance to understand why we are rated Outstanding by Ofsted,” he said.
“From sports and music, to science and art, there really is a course for everyone no matter their age or situation.”
The new Part-time Course brochure for 2016/17 was also officially launched at Royal Cornwall Show and Gool said it was rewarding to be able to offer such a range of options to people with busy lives.
“It’s hard to find time for yourself these days, but the Part-time Courses provide an opportunity for those who have family and work commitments to pursue a new hobby, gain a qualification or to simply have fun and make friends.”
The College is already planning its attendance at next year’s Royal Cornwall Show and is determined to bring visitors more ground-breaking entertainment and information.
