College update on BTEC examinations

Following the indecision from central government on the position of the planned vocational exams students are due to sit this month we have made the very difficult decision to cancel all exams from lunch time today.

I am aware that many students and staff will be really disappointed at this decision as they have spent so much time preparing for the exams but the college cannot guarantee that it will have sufficient trained invigilators to oversee the exams and we wish to protect the physical and mental wellbeing of all our students and staff.

The college will monitor very closely the statement from the Secretary of State this afternoon when it is hoped that further clarification will be given on how grades are to be awarded this summer. We will work with exam boards to ensure students who have not sat January exams will not be disadvantaged in any way.

In the meantime it is important that all students complete all tasks and assessments to the very best of their ability to put them in as strong a position as possible.
