Finding themselves exploring all the ways people are managing to stay connected in these extraordinary times sparked an idea within the University level English department at Truro and Penwith College.
For those that may have exhausted their television choices, love the written word, or are looking for something new to try, the university level English department at the TEF Gold-rated College is inviting the people of Cornwall to take part in a creative writing project. The project is open to all ages and abilities.
If you want to take part, you are asked to write a 500-word piece within a 500 minute (just over eight hours) time limit, using the title ‘Connected’. The College’s University-level English lecturers will read your work and publish the top 10 pieces on our Higher Education Facebook page for the wider community to read.
If you are unsure how to begin your 500-word piece, Dr Vanessa Hager, Programme Leader of the College’s FdA English Studies course advises; “you could start with something you have heard or read recently, that made you feel connected to others”.
Start putting words on paper and see where it takes you. Please send in your 500-word entry to email@example.com by Friday 19th June.
