International basketball experience for academy players

Morlaix Basketball International, a popular youth team that plays in the Brittany Basketball League, visited Truro and Penwith College to play against the Basketball Academy over the half term break. The visit coincided with a recently established partnership between the two organisations that will allow the teams to regularly play against each other.

Morlaix, which is twinned with Truro, regularly hosts a number of basketball tournaments throughout the year with teams coming from across Europe and Africa to participate. The standard of basketball in France is very high, making it a fantastic opportunity for all the basketball academy players.

The trip was rounded off with the team watching Plymouth Raiders play before getting the ferry back to France.

Andy Cummins, one of the basketball coaches at Truro College, said: “It was a great weekend of basketball and provided a fantastic opportunity for our players to play against international opposition. We will be going over to France visiting them in the New Year and hope to make it a yearly event.”
