It’s Art but on Nails!

Students taking the part time VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services put their creativity to the test in their competition entitled “Under the Sea”.

As well as learning regular nail services that you might find in a salon, the students have a module in 3D nail design and competition work. Their creative interpretation of this theme was boundless with students choosing Titanic, Plastic Free Seas and the Little Mermaid as just some of their competition pieces. Jo Lello-Dunn, Deputy Team Leader overseeing the department said, “The creative attention to detail and skill required to put together their competition work is phenomenal. The students have to create a “mood book” detailing their creative process as well as performing under pressure in a timed competitive environment.” Jo continued, “As this course is very popular with the growing nail services market, we have several groups running. The second group will be holding their nail art competition on the College Open Evening on 7th February at 5pm with a theme of “Musicals”. Visitors are welcome to come and see the students in action, I think you will be surprised at the level of their work.”
