It’s clear to say that support is available

With the excitement from yesterday’s A Level results day settling, and the start date for University level courses nearing, students evaluate their options at Truro and Penwith College’s HE Advice Day.

Students are eager to find out how to best apply for University level courses through clearing, when their results aren’t quite as expected or are even better than expected. Luckily, there are still plenty of opportunities available.

Throughout August and September, the team are always on hand to help and support students; matching students to the best University level course.

Admissions Assistant, Kate Leyland likes to take a more personal approach when it comes to clearing applications.

She said: “It’s not always easy navigating the application process alone, but Truro and Penwith College has more of a community feel, reflected in the 1-1 support available throughout the student journey, from the application process right the way through to graduation day.”

Higher Education Programme Team Leader, Andrew Smart commends the support offered for all applicants.

He said: “What is great for students wanting to study in Cornwall is that we continue to receive applications from school leavers and mature students alike, who want to study at a higher level within the county. The team always manages to find a course that suits the student, whether it’s an HNC, Foundation Degree, top-up Degree or an Access Course to provide a pathway back into education.”

“We recognise the need for additional support throughout the summer, particularly for late applicants who have decided to change direction in their career paths.”

With staff on hand to help and give valuable advice right up until the start of term, applicants have the facilities to be comfortable with their choices throughout the clearing process.
