There’s a few things students will need to have prepared before beginning remote learning tomorrow. By now students should have transferred all of their work from their Desktop onto their OneDrive, so they can easily access their course files from home.
Students need to make sure they have a laptop or computer setup that they can work from between the hours of 9.15-4.15 (preferably in a quiet spot to limit distractions with a good internet connection), and their notes and work should be ready and up-to-date for when lesson’s start, as would normally be done.
As lessons from tomorrow will be delivered through Microsoft Teams, it’s important to check that this service can be accessed properly. To set up Microsoft Teams, go to office.com in any Internet browser and sign in using your college username and password. This will work on computers running Windows and iOS, and mobile devices using Android or Apple.
To join an online learning session students will need to go onto Microsoft Teams which they can also find on the Intranet. Click on the class code under My Classes. Then a link will be provided to join a class online.
For more details on working remotely, there are lots of resources available on the Intranet, which will guide students through how to access services from home and get updates, accessing folders and files from home, guides on joining an online session, and much more.
It’s also really important during this time that students keep up-to-date with the latest College info and news. To do this they should:
- Check the College email every day
- Visit the College Intranet daily for updates and alerts
If students have any queries, some frequently asked questions can be found on the COVID-19 FAQ page here.
For any other queries students might have that can’t be answered from the link above, then they can contact:
- A member of their teaching team
- We have also set up an e-learning helpline which can be used during College hours on 01872 308300.
