Josh joined Truro College’s Football Development Programme, which benefits from links with the Chelsea FC Foundation, during his first year.
“When I started in my first year I was barely going to be selected for the first team but being selected and now having Gary’s help has brought me on loads and I can’t thank him enough. It’s really helped me develop and mature,” said Josh.
Through the academy, Josh was given the opportunity to try out for the England Schools team at Bristol before getting through to the Strafford round and finally being selected for the team.
“It was a real honour to be selected and such a proud moment,” said Josh. “It’s a real achievement and it’s nice that you’re being recognised. I love playing for a higher level.”
Through playing for the England Schools squad, Josh has gone up against national and international teams such as Australia as well as travelling to places like Milan. Josh is also enjoying the jetsetting footballer life as he and the Truro College team prepare to fly to America for the annual Dallas Cup.
“I’m really looking forward to the Dallas Cup. We went last year so now we have a real sense of what it’s all about. I think we have a real chance of winning with the squad we’re taking out,” said Josh.
