Janet has worked at Truro and Penwith College since 2002, starting her journey as a sessional lecturer in anatomy and physiology, theatrical make-up and hairdressing. In 2004 Janet became a full-time lecturer in hairdressing, which turned to teaching Apprentices and then becoming a training advisor for hair and beauty Apprentices. During this time, Janet also took on the role as Centre Manager for the Cornwall Hairdressing Academy. In 2017 Janet joined the business development team as business development advisor for hair and beauty and is an ‘ESF programme developer’. Janet’s experiences and sector specific knowledge along with her problem-solving ability and professional outlook, make her a great asset to the team. Janet is a qualified professional hairdresser, who started her career in a small salon in Newquay, gaining experiences in a few different salons, before opening her own successful salon where she was able to employ five stylists and Apprentices. Janet has many industry related qualifications and continues to keep her hairdressing skills up to date. Running a business and employing Apprentices has given Janet immense industry knowledge. Janet builds close working relationships with the College’s employer partners and provides industry relevant advice and support when they need it.
