Niki is a Career Zone Assistant who offers support to students who are looking to create/update their CV. With a strong focus on Special Educational Needs and students who experience challenges, she aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment to all, while providing them with information, advice and guidance on CV writing, job searches, mock interviews, volunteering suggestions, gap years and more.
Niki is a qualified teacher who has chosen to specialise in delivering career support. She says: “Seeing the joy in a student who has entered the Career Zone feeling overwhelmed about the future and leaving with a more positive and confident outlook is very rewarding”. Niki promotes the ethos that no matter what career path you aspire to, more often than not, there is a way to get there. It may not be a straight line and there may be detours on the way, but these detours provide valuable life skills that translate into key workplace skills such as communication, empathy and determination. She says: “Don’t worry about any ‘wrong’ turns, these are just experiences that help you fine tune what you do want to do”. Niki’s advice is to choose a career path that you are excited and passionate about. If that changes over time, it is ok, many people have more than one career in a lifetime – “I am on my fourth (and best!)”.
