The Engineering department is based in the state of the art Southwest Institute of Technology building. Included within is a very large open workshop with a significant range of industry standard equipment, a specific welding facility, home for the Welding Institute, CAD studios, Electronics room and general teaching rooms.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed lecturer with the ability to inspire students and maintain excellent working relationships in a very successful Engineering team. A willingness to support students pastorally is essential, as is being adaptable and flexible in a dynamic working environment.
Fractional contract options are available which would allow the opportunity to combine a new lecturing role whilst continuing employment in industry.
The ideal candidate should work with confidence with a wide variety of ability levels, be a committed team member and project an enthusiasm for their subject. The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality teaching on education programmes, and to contribute to providing an outstanding learning experience for our students.
We aim to find a full-time lecturer to join our successful team to teach various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, MMA, etc, prior teaching or training experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Applicants should hold professional qualifications in fabrication and welding, to a minimum of level 3, in addition to a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. A level 4 (HNC) in Engineering would be desirable but not essential.
As well as teaching, the successful candidate is likely to have course lead and tutor group responsibilities. A commitment to curriculum development, a flexible approach to teaching and learning and a dedication to safety and maintaining a well-organised and clean workshop environment is required.
*Salary as advertised is based on a qualified lecturer. Non-qualified applicants will be considered but will be paid on a non-qualified lecturer scale.
