Anyone can nominate including employers, friends, family members and colleagues; apprentices can even nominate themselves.

The 2021 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards will recognise apprentices across fifteen categories:

Apprentice of the Year in:

  • Hospitality
  • Accountancy
  • Construction and Trade Occupations
  • Health, Care and Public Services
  • Digital and IT
  • Business
  • Management 
  • Marketing
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Motor Vehicle
  • Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Land-based

Cross-sector awards:

  • Community Champion

A special one-off award for 2021 that will recognise apprentices who have gone above and beyond to support their employer and local community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • Achiever of the Year

Recognising apprentices who have overcome personal challenge or adversity to successfully complete their apprenticeship training and make valuable contributions to thier employer. Apprentices from the sector categories above will be automatically entered for this award if their nomination shows evidence of such achievement.

  • Cornwall’s Apprentice of the Year 2021

The top three nominees from all other apprentice categories will be automatically shortlisted for this award. The apprentice that judges score highest across the whole event will scoop the coveted title of Cornwall's Apprentice of the Year 2021.

How to nominate

To nominate, complete our simple nomination form via the link below. You will be asked to provide 500-words to explain why your nominee should win the award with judges looking for examples of the following:

  • Exceptional contributions to the workplace and professional achievement
  • Examples of outstanding commitment to personal development and training
  • Personal achievements and qualities, and how these have developed either at home or in the workplace
  • ‘Personal achievements’ include going above and beyond to make exceptional contributions during the Covid-19 pandemic. Judges will pay particular attention to this when scoring nominations for the Community Champion Award

It is not possible to save drafts of your nomination. We recommend you draft your 500-words before completing the nomination form.

Nominations will close at 5pm on Monday 02 August.

Who is eligible for nomination?

Eligibilty criteria has been extended for the 2021 event so that any employer or apprentice who missed out in 2020 is eligible for nomination.

The Awards are free to enter and open to anyone who has taken part in or provided apprenticeship training since 21 June 2019, regardless of their training provider. The business's head office or main business premises should be based in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

If a business is sponsoring a category they will only judge nominations in categories where no representatives from their business have been nominated.
