HNCs (Level 4)
Equivalent to the first year of University study, Higher National Certificates (HNCs) are vocational qualifications specifically designed to meet the needs of employers. Upon completion, students can progress to stage two of a related Foundation Degree or HND.
HNDs (Level 4)
Comparable to the first two years of University study, Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) help students to develop essential career skills, such as creative problem solving, planning and scheduling your work, and applying complex theories to work-related challenges. Upon completion, students can progress to either the second or third year of a related degree programme.
I had the best years of my life so far at Truro and Penwith College. I am proud to say I studied at the College and shall represent them wherever I go.
Foundation Degrees (Level 4)
Alike the first two years of University study, Foundation Degrees (FdA or FdSc) are a vocational qualification which combines academic study with practical work-based learning. Designed in collaboration with employers, Foundation Degrees ensure that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue their chose profession in the industry and usually include a work placement. Upon completion, students can progress to a top-up course or the third year of a full honours degree.
Top-up Degrees (Level 6)
Similar to the third year of University study, Top-up Degrees allow students to supplement their completed Foundation Degree, HND or an equivalent qualification to gain a full Bachelors Degree (BA or BSc).
Bachelors Degree (Level 4)
A Bachelors Degree covers all three years of University study and allows students to select a chosen subject or discipline to study for the entirety of the course. Undergraduate degree are awarded either as an ordinary degree or an honours degree if the student has completed a dissertation or self-directed piece of work in their final year. Upon completion, students can progress onto Masters Degrees, PhD's or postgraduate Initial Teacher Training courses.
