The Student Journey

Step into Truro and Penwith College and embark on the journey of a lifetime: of new beginnings, hard work and attainable goals. We will be beside you all the way, nurturing and guiding you. This is your journey, and we're here to help you enjoy it.

Choosing where to study is an important decision. The institution, course and location must be suited to your needs and ambitions. Your course should guide you down the path to a fulfilling career.

We offer the perfect balance of outstanding university provision and a unique experience in Cornwall. Famous for its fantastic coastline, you are never far from a relaxing walk across the beach (and an ice cream!). Our experienced lecturers take you on a journey, delving into subject-specific research and guiding you in smaller class sizes to give a personal touch to lectures.

Step 1

Choose the path you want to follow

What do you most want to get out of your university experience? Are you looking for a fantastic location? Would you like a degree with a year’s work placement or the ability to study abroad? Will the course direct you to your dream career? What’s the employability provision like? Are there any extra opportunities to enhance your studies?

Foundation Degrees are perfect if you’re looking at employment opportunities. Our courses are developed with employers to ensure you graduate with the skills and knowledge required to progress into your chosen career.

Check out our courses, we have over 50 to choose from.

Get ahead of the game and take a look at your Programme Quality Handbook. This is a very important document and will guide you through your modules and provide further information about your assessments.

Find your Programme Quality Handbook here. You will need to log in using the following details:
Username: academicpartnerships
Password: APM

After you have logged in select My Courses from the top navigation bar from the drop down select HE Quality Store. You will then be able to select your appropriate course.

Step 2

Plan your journey

You’ve chosen a few institutions and courses you like the look of – the next step is to research them. Find out everything there is to know about them: see what support they offer, the resources and facilities they have available and explore your potential surroundings. It’s important to know that you will get the right support and have the right resources to complete your degree. Find out about the support offered at Truro and Penwith College here. For funding information click here.

Visiting the institutions is always worthwhile and allows you to get a real feel of the place where you may be spending the next three years. If you are a European or International Student you can find more information on how to apply here.

Step 3

Start your journey

You’ve narrowed it down and now it’s time to apply. You have until 15 January to put in your application form. You can still apply after this date, however places may be limited. You will need to apply through UCAS if you would like to do a full-time course. If you’re going down the part-time route, apply directly to the institution.

Find out more about how to apply.

Step 4

Make sure your paperwork is complete

The universities you've applied to will decide whether to accept you onto the course, and whether to offer you a conditional or unconditional place. If you have been offered a conditional place, they will confirm what your conditions of entry are, e.g. obtaining certain grades.

So you’ve received your offers, now it’s time to make your choices. Use the knowledge you have gathered from your research and from visiting the institutions to decide which universities you would like as your first and second choices.

You will want to make sure you have your finances in place. For more information on funding click here.

Step 5

Confirmation, your journey has started

After results day, the institution(s) you have applied to will decide whether to accept you. Even if you didn’t quite get the grades you needed, there are still plenty of options, so don't panic! You may like to look at entering CLEARING. Make sure you check out institutions and courses that would accept the grades you have achieved.

Step 6

You’ve been accepted! You’re ready to begin your university experience, although a few more things are required before you can start.

New students are required to come in on Registration day which enables you to sort out the last little bits before you finally start. You will be sent a letter in the Summer before you start with details to what you will need to prepare for registration.

Please let us know if you have any additional requirements to help you with your registration:

Remember, if you haven't yet had a look through the Programme Quality Handbook, you will need to log in using the following details:
Username: academicpartnerships
Password: APM

After you have logged in select My Courses from the top navigation bar from the drop down select HE Quality Store. You will then be able to select your appropriate course.

Step 7
