Beginners/Intermediate Jewellery

This is a 10 week course for complete beginners and intermediates or those with a bit of experience who would like to improve their skills. Each class is led by demonstration, and thereafter a task is set for students to practice the demonstrated technique. The course is designed to provide the learner with the necessary skills to make from home, repair jewellery and the potential to sell.

The first seven lessons will be used to learn a different technique including how to solder, how to make a ring, a bangle, a pendant, texturing, adding patina, fret work, bracelets, chains, and clasps.

The last three lessons will be focused on setting a cabochon stone (supplied) with a bezel setting and the opportunity to make something with the techniques you have learnt or to focus on a particular technique such as a simple brooch setting.

There will be an Initial materials charge of £25 per student which will cover all the materials needed for the given tasks.  Additional materials can be purchased during the lesson including fret saw blades, silver solder, copper and silver sheet, and various other materials such as patina solution, polishing compounds, and texturing paper are free to use.
