This is a 10 week course for complete beginners or those with a bit of experience and would like to improve their skill. Each class is led by demonstration and thereafter a making task is set for students to practice the demonstrated technique. The course is designed to provide the learner the necessary skills and tools knowledge to make from home and repair jewellery, with the potential to sell.

Over the 10 weeks, seven of the weeks will be used to learn and develop different jewellery techniques and processes including how to make rings, bangles, earrings, bracelets, chains and clasps. The final 2 are set aside for students to work on their own jewellery ideas with one-to-one guidance.

Techniques introduced include traditional jewellery craftmanship skills such as fret work, soldering, texturing, etching, doming, polishing, forming, filing and one lesson will be dedicated to bezel setting a cabochon stone.

Your course fee includes a materials charge which will cover all the materials needed for the given tasks. Materials will include – fret saw blades, silver solder, copper sheet, copper wire, wet/dry paper and a small amount of silver for the twisted bangle ends. The charge also includes general use other materials such as patina solution, polishing compound, cleaning solutions and soldering flux.
