Accelerate programme

Accelerate is our specialist programme for A Level STEM students who want to take their subjects further.

Alongside their A Levels, Accelerate students can take part in research projects, national and international STEM competitions, university visits, specialist trips and practical challenges.

Recent opportunities have included designing and launching satellites through CanSat, building and launching rockets for UKROC, writing code to run aboard the International Space Station through Astro Pi, carrying out independent research through IRIS and the EPQ, and taking part in national engineering, mathematics and environmental competitions.

Students can also take part in:

• Visits to universities, research facilities and STEM organisations, including our residential trip to CERN in Geneva.
• Talks and workshops with scientists, engineers, researchers and other. professionals
• Independent research through the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
• Team projects that develop problem-solving, communication and leadership.
• Activities and experiences that support applications for competitive university courses, apprenticeships and careers.

The programme gives students time and support to explore areas of STEM they are interested in, take on larger projects and get involved in opportunities outside their normal A Level lessons.

The Oxbridge Support Programme is a supplementary support programme which works alongside Accelerate. If you’re aiming for Oxford or Cambridge, our dedicated Oxbridge Support Programme sits alongside Accelerate to give you an extra edge.
