WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?

The course is vocational, in which learners develop knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work-related context. It encourages learners to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the workplace. We will support you to develop the creative, technical and organisational skills required to progress onto Level 3 study in Performance, Dance or Production. Through workshops and performances, you will develop skills in voice, movement and characterisation. There will be opportunities throughout the year to perform extracts from plays. You will work towards creating your own pieces of devised theatre using a range of stimuli. Pieces will be performed for assessment.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

A broad spectrum of performance skills is used to help develop and prepare you for your progression.  These will include devising and improvised tasks as well as scripted and structured ‘play’ based work.  You will also look at movement, dance and vocal skills as well as opportunities to attend academies and workshops.

Skills development will also include teamwork, working from a prescribed brief, working to deadlines, presenting information effectively and accurately completing administrative tasks and processes.

WHERE WILL IT TAKE ME?

Successfully completing the course at Merit level will give you the necessary entry requirements for Level 3 study. Many students go on to complete BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas in either Performing Arts or Production Arts.

Three GCSEs at Grade 3 including English Language (or English Literature) and/or Maths.
