VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology Studies

This course will cover all the skills needed to become a qualified nail technician.  You will learn the application of gel and acrylic through tip and sculpting techniques. Advanced nail art is a large focus within delivery, trends which range from 3D to embedding, using a variety of products and techniques. As well as the practical delivery there will be theoretical delivery on anatomy and physiology, product knowledge and understanding and client care and communication.  You’ll start by learning the theory and science for the nail enhancement systems. You will then have the opportunity to practice all of your new skills on yourself, your peers and training hands, before carrying out the techniques on clients in our nail salon. This will build your confidence, skill level and employability skills to enable you to find employment within the nail industry.

During the delivery of the gel unit you will learn about how to apply pink & white French designs, extended nail bed techniques, gel polish overlays, gel polish on toes, infill and maintenance and safely remove both soak off and hard gels using the latest LED technology. You will be applying products over natural nails, tips and sculpting forms. You will also be taught advanced methods of use, such as embedding and competition techniques.

When learning about liquid and powder (acrylic) you will learn all of the above and also spend time using the system for 3D adornments such as flowers and bows. You will explore making exciting creations with liquid and powder ranging from small insects to larger decorative ornaments. To showcase your talents and creative side, you will be involved in a competition unit to allow you to ‘think outside of the box’, a model will be required dressed to match the chosen theme and a moodboard/book will also need to be produced.

Electric nail files, when used correctly are a valuable tool to any nail technician. During your course you will learn how to safely and effectively use these files to speed up your treatments, therefore enabling you to make better use of precious time.
