Why I Chose Truro and Penwith College

We sat down with our Student Ambassadors to track their personal journeys from the very first moment they stepped onto campus as Year 11 students at an Open Day to the confident leaders they have become today.

Our ambassadors discuss the initial transition from school and share exactly how they found their feet in a new environment.

At Truro and Penwith College, we are here to help you find your voice.

Don’t let practical worries hold you back

It’s completely normal to have questions at this stage, but you don’t need to have everything figured out before you apply.

Travel is easier than you think

Students travel to us from across Cornwall every day, with dedicated college buses, public transport and financial support available. Visit our Transport page.

Financial support is available

Help with costs such as travel and school meals may be available through our bursary scheme. Visit our Travel & Bursary Hub

You’re not behind

There are lots of reasons students apply later, including:

  • You’re still deciding between sixth form and college
  • Your plans have changed
  • You didn’t get the outcome you expected elsewhere
  • You simply haven’t had the chance to apply yet

Whatever your situation, you’re welcome here and we’ll support you through the process.

I'm really glad I came to College. My lecturers were really supportive. I made really good friends, despite not knowing anyone initially as most of my friends stayed at sixth form.
