WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?
This T Level has been developed in partnership with employers to ensure that the knowledge and skills you develop reflect the needs of modern engineering and manufacturing industries. Combining classroom learning with extensive industry experience, this qualification provides an excellent alternative to A Levels for students seeking a technical career pathway.
You will gain an understanding of how products are manufactured, how industrial processes operate and how engineering systems are controlled and improved. Throughout the course, you will develop practical and technical skills while learning how engineering organisations maintain quality, efficiency and safety within production environments.
You will be taught by experienced tutors in specialist engineering facilities and will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge through practical activities and industry placement experiences.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The T Level in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing & Control consists of three key elements:
Core Component: This component develops the underpinning knowledge and understanding required across the engineering and manufacturing sector. Topics include: health and safety in engineering environments, engineering principles and applications, mathematics and science for engineering, quality assurance and continuous improvement and materials and manufacturing systems.
Occupational Specialist Component: You will develop specialist knowledge and skills associated with manufacturing, processing and control environments. Topics include: manufacturing operations, production planning and control, automation and control systems, monitoring and improving production performance and quality, equipment operation and maintenance, lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving and process improvement.
Industry Placement: Every student will complete a substantial industry placement of at least 315 hours. This placement provides valuable experience within a real engineering or manufacturing workplace, enabling you to develop professional behaviours, technical skills and industry knowledge while building connections with employers.
