In this unit you will be introduced to media processes and technical skills through the facilities offered by the course. You will be introduced to a range of research skills and learn about existing advertisements to plan your own. You will create a 30 second television advert as well as exploring social media advertising for a product of your choice.
Single Camera and Multicamera Production (Unit 3, 4 & 5).
In these combined units you will begin to explore narrative film production and explore a range of practical short filmmaking techniques. You will develop critical and contextual awareness of filmmaking and extend this to look at multicamera productions. Here you will work as a team to create a live multi-camera production which is broadcast live in the college. Through this you will learn industry job roles and investigate audio production in our TV studio.
Music Video (Unit 6)
In this unit you will investigate visual production and technologies involved in the design and production of music videos. This will be explored through a range of practical workshops and theoretical study before planning your own music video with a focus on broadening post-production skillset through Adobe software available at the college.
Interactive (Unit 7)
In this unit, you will explore interactive media technologies and can build your skillset in a photography and graphic design project. This will focus on a multi-media approach to ensure you are ready for workplace expectations in your future.
Final Major Project (Unit 8)
As the summative unit in the first year of the two-year qualification, will provide you with a measure of self-directed learning in the completion of a substantial Creative Production or Media Project. It will require you to make use of the skills, knowledge and understanding developed in all previous units to complete a creative media production project. In this brief, you choose your own pathway and develop more specialist skills in that area. Students have previously created short films, documentaries, music videos, magazines, animations, multi-camera productions and advertising campaigns. Some of these have gone on to be nominated at both local and national festivals and won several awards.
