Truro and Penwith College has strengthened its recently announced partnership with Truro City FC by formally launching its role as the club’s Official Education Partner.
The announcement builds on the wider relationship between the College and Truro City FC, adding a clear focus on student opportunity and the development of professional sport pathways in Cornwall.
Through the partnership, the College and club will work together to showcase the opportunities available to young people through sport, education, coaching, media, performance and the wider sports industry. The collaboration will also help bring to life the player pathway and highlight how Truro and Penwith College supports students to progress in sport, both on and off the pitch.
The partnership further reinforces Truro and Penwith College’s standing as a home for professional sport pathways in Cornwall, alongside its growing work with the county’s leading professional sports clubs.
A key focus of the next stage of the partnership will be dynamic content and regular storytelling across College, club and community channels. This will include student features, coach check-ins, player pathway spotlights and behind-the-scenes content designed to inspire young people across Truro and the wider county.
Truro and Penwith College Principal, Carl Riding, said: “Truro City FC is an important part of Cornwall’s professional sporting landscape, and we are proud to be strengthening our partnership with the club as its Official Education Partner.
“This next stage of the partnership is about showing young people what is possible. It gives us the opportunity to connect education with the professional sporting environment around them, while showcasing the pathways, experiences and support available through the College.
“Whether students are interested in playing, coaching, media, performance, events or careers across the wider sports industry, partnerships like this help make those opportunities more visible, more relevant and more inspiring.”
The partnership will also support College recruitment and engagement activity, with Truro City FC involvement at open events and community activity where possible. The College will also have a regular presence across matchdays and digital platforms, helping to share student stories, promote key opportunities and connect with young people and families.
Rob Butland, Head of Commercial at Truro City FC, said: “We are delighted to formally launch this next stage of our partnership with Truro and Penwith College. The College plays a major role in supporting young people across Cornwall, and this partnership allows us to work together in a more focused way to showcase the pathway, celebrate student and player development, and create opportunities for young people both on and off the pitch.
“We look forward to continuing to build this relationship and bringing the partnership to life across the club, the Community Trust and the wider Truro City FC family.”
Through the partnership, Truro and Penwith College and Truro City FC will work together to ensure more young people can see, understand and access the opportunities available to them through sport, education and community engagement in Cornwall.
