Achieving a Distinction in T Level Health, Joel is celebrating a fantastic Results Day after securing his place at the University of Southampton, where he will study Children’s Nursing.
The former Penair School student is one of many learners demonstrating the growing success of T Levels as a route into higher education and professional careers. Combining classroom learning with industry placements, the qualification gave Joel valuable real-world experience and helped prepare him for the next stage of his journey in healthcare.
Joel said he was delighted with his results and relieved to discover he had secured his university place.
Reflecting on Results Day, he added: “I was very nervous because we had to obviously look at UCAS. But then when I saw that I’d got into the Uni of Southampton, I was very happy.”
One of the highlights of Joel’s T Level was the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting through his industry placement. The practical element of the qualification helped strengthen his ambition to work in healthcare and provided valuable insight into the profession.
“On my T Level course I was able to experience being in a hospital and I look forward to having more opportunities at Southampton.”
While healthcare pathways have traditionally attracted more female students, Joel’s success highlights the wide range of opportunities available to anyone with a passion for caring for others. With A Levels, T Levels and vocational qualifications on offer, Truro and Penwith College continues to provide routes into a wide variety of careers and industries.
Looking back on his time at College, Joel was full of praise for the support he received from both staff and fellow students.
“The teachers and my classmates. The time in lessons was just amazing; we’ve learned so much.”
As he prepares to begin his degree and work towards a career in children’s nursing, Joel encourages new students to embrace College life and be themselves.
