Course: FdSc Nursing Associate (Apprenticeship Route)

Career: Nursing Associate

My Story:

Peter has worked as a theatre assistant for 15 years in Penzance for RCHT and has been looking for a chance to develop his career, which the Apprenticeship has allowed himto do. He has had new opportunities and now a qualified Nursing Associate. Peters  plans on returning to the University Centre in September to study BSc (Hons) Applied Social Sciences.

Peter said: “I was looking for a career and personal challenge with development, education, and a self-improvement opportunity for a while. The Apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to be employed, have a salary, train and study at the same time.”

“My career has altered quite radically, I am doing things within a similar environment but with a more detailed skill set. My title is now FdSc Nursing Associate moving up from Theatre Assistant.”

“The course and the tutors are absolutely incredible! Amazing! They delivered a brand-new course and it was outstanding. In fact, I was so impressed I am now returning to study Applied Social Sciences.”

“We regularly had lectures in the great Nursing Simulation Suite, which is like a replica of the workplace, with patient dummies and it is very well equipped.”

Peter intends to continue his career in the NHS alongside his studies and added: “This is a great University Centre. The facilities are great particularly the catering and library. Great staff in both. All the staff as well as the lecture staff are friendly, helpful, and committed. It has been fantastic!”
