Truro College Taster Day: Private Schools, Home Educated, Sixth Form Schools & Alternative Provision

Try something new, experience College life and discover your future at a Truro College Taster Day for Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 students.

Four students sit out on the grass under a tree at Truro College. It is a sunny day and the Helford building is in the background.

THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Get ready for a day packed with hands-on experiences, new ideas and exciting possibilities at Truro College!

Whether you’re already planning your future or just starting to think about it, this day is all about trying, discovering and having fun.

Students must pick subject choices and book their place to attend this event.

You could be creating in Art & Design, experimenting in Science, building in Construction, coding in Computing or exploring careers in areas like Engineering, Business or Sport. It’s your chance to step out of your comfort zone and discover what you enjoy most.

  • Take part in interactive subject sessions
  • Explore our industry-standard facilities
  • Meet friendly tutors
  • Experience what College life is really like

Information for Parents & Carers

To help students make the most of their experience and build confidence, this is a student-only event.

  • Parents/carers are not able to attend taster sessions alongside students.
  • If you wish to remain onsite, you are very welcome to relax in our Spires Coffee Bar during the day.
  • Alternatively, you can drop off and return at the end of the event. Students should sign in at Allen Reception on arrival.

This approach helps students experience college life independently while still ensuring support is nearby if needed.

Who can attend?

This Taster Day is for any Year 10, Year 11 or Year 12 student who does not already have an organised Taster Day pre-arranged by their school. Students who are home schooled, attend private school, belong to a school with a sixth form or attend Alternative Provision are welcome to register and attend.

Take your first step towards college life – we can’t wait to welcome you!

Just really go for what you’re interested in. If you’re doing what you enjoy, you’re so much more likely to do well in it, and find a good balance between working hard, making friends and enjoying the college experience because it’s so different from school.
