The film, titled Time & Tide, involved contributions from a wider cohort of students. Finn, Elowen, Noah and Janson were among those who played a key role in the project, working to a live client brief that offered real-world experience of the creative industries. From initial concept and filming through to editing and final delivery, the project gave students valuable insight into professional production.
Representatives from St Michael’s Mount praised both the quality of the film and the professionalism of the students involved.
Felix St Aubyn, Chief Executive Officer at St Michael’s Mount, said: “The quality is great, they’ve understood the Mount quickly and well. They could give most professionals a run for their money.”
Duncan Murdoch, Head of Operations, added: “The students have done a fantastic job. The cinematography and music complement each other beautifully, and they’ve captured the essence of the Mount perfectly.”
Media Lecturer Stuart Landsdowne highlighted the students’ approach to the project: “We are super proud of them. They were completely professional and mature, and really engaged in the project.”
Reflecting on his experience of the course, student Finn said: “I think some of the best parts are that it allows you to do more practical work, like making films, and express yourself creatively.”
The project demonstrates the strong emphasis Penwith College places on employer engagement and practical learning, ensuring students develop the technical skills, confidence and professionalism required for progression into higher education or the creative industries.
