The College achieved an outstanding 72% apprenticeship achievement rate for 2024/25, placing it significantly above both the national average of 65.4% and the general FE college average of 65.7%.
The results confirm Truro and Penwith College as the leading college in the region for apprenticeship success, and position it within the top 12% of providers nationally.
This marks a significant achievement for the College and reinforces its reputation for delivering high-quality, employer-led training that supports both learners and businesses across Cornwall.
Hayley McKinstry, the College’s Director of Business, Partnerships and Apprenticeships, said: “To be recognised as the top-performing college in the South West for apprenticeship achievement is a fantastic result for everyone involved. It reflects the hard work of our apprentices, the dedication of our staff, and the strength of our partnerships with employers across the region.
“Achieving well above national rates shows the real impact apprenticeships are having in developing skilled, confident individuals who are ready to contribute to Cornwall’s economy.”
The achievement data builds on a period of continued success and recognition for the College’s apprenticeship provision. Truro and Penwith College has been named a finalist in four categories at the Apprenticeship Guide Awards, including Best College for Apprenticeships, and holds Expert Apprenticeship Provider status.
The College continues to grow its apprenticeship offer in response to regional and national skills priorities. Recent developments include new programmes supporting Cornwall’s emerging industries, such as critical minerals and renewable energy, alongside the introduction of new apprenticeship standards in Housing and Property Management, designed to support local housing providers in upskilling senior staff in line with evolving regulatory requirements.
With hundreds of apprentices training across a wide range of industries, the College continues to play a central role in driving skills, productivity and opportunity across Cornwall and the wider South West.
