For Holly, Will, Lewis and Lewis, choosing Truro and Penwith College was about more than just picking a course. It was about finding somewhere they felt they belonged.

Lewis summed it up simply: “I’d probably say the best chapter of my life.”

For many, the decision to join the College was influenced by familiarity, location and the reassurance of knowing others who were also enrolling. But what they discovered went far beyond expectations.

“I really liked the course and the atmosphere here,” Lewis explained. “It just led me here.”

Even those who arrived knowing friends quickly found that the experience naturally expanded their social circle.

“I think at the time all my friends were going here, so I thought I didn’t really want to make a whole new group of friends. But that sort of happened anyway.”

The Media course has created a shared space where students feel included, supported and treated as equals.

“It’s so inclusive and we’re all treated the same.”

That sense of respect and acceptance has helped students settle into College life quickly, making the transition from school feel smoother and more positive.

“It feels like everyone’s just accepted. It doesn’t feel like school anymore, but in a good way. You feel more grown up.”

Alongside the social experience, students are also developing their understanding of Media as a subject, exploring film, production, creativity and storytelling in practical, hands-on ways.

They are encouraged to approach the course with professionalism while also experimenting and developing their creative ideas.

“Treat the course like a job, be professional, but also be creative and try things out.”

For those considering Media, the students are clear about who the course is for.

“It’s for anyone who’s creative, anyone who loves film or music videos. Even if you just enjoy watching films, it could be the start of something.”

More than anything, they encourage future students to follow their interests and give it a try.

“If you enjoy it, do the course.” For Holly, Will, Lewis and Lewis, Media at Truro and Penwith College has become more than just a subject choice. It has become a place where they have built friendships, discovered their creativity and created what they describe as the best chapter of their lives.
