Freya and Anya learned Spanish together at Truro Campus, and along the way built a friendship neither expected from a language course.

From their own dedicated study space to a teacher who “brings the course to life,” hear why Spanish became more than just a subject for these two, and where it’s taking them next: Freya to Harper and Keele Veterinary School, to study Veterinary Medicine, and Anya continuing her studies with us on the UAL Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.

What started as a class became a friendship during their time at College, built on shared conversations, a shared love of the subject, and, as they put it, a room that “doesn’t actually feel like you’re learning.” It’s a reminder that the right course can shape far more than a set of grades; it can shape who you find along the way.

Their story is part of another year of students finding their place at Truro and Penwith College, continuing a 30-year legacy of transforming lives across Cornwall, one subject, one friendship, one small college library at a time.
