Course: BSc Applied Social Science
My Story:
Ollie was nearing the end of his Forensic Science Diploma at Truro College when he was unsure of what to go on to next and wasn’t sure if he wanted to go to University or move away. After speaking with lecturers and staff at Truro College, the University Centre was recommended for Ollie to take a look at as it meant he could continue in education in a setting he was familiar with.
After looking at the Fal building and the courses on offer, Ollie decided to enroll on the FdSc Public Services degree which he has been studying over the last 2 years. After recently graduating from the foundation degree, he has decided to continue his education at the University Centre by progressing onto the BSc Applied Social Science degree.
Ollie Said: “I wanted to continue my studies after graduating the Public Services degree and I feel i have found the right course for me”
“I enjoy the flexibility of the subject and the topics within the Social Science degree, I have always been interested in people, so it’s a really interesting degree for me, it feels like the perfect subject for me”
“A big part of why I chose to study at the University Centre was that I could stay living locally and continue the same lifestyle outside of studying for my degree”
“The size of classes at the University Centre are really helpful as I get more personal input from Lecturers”
Ollie is also a Higher Education Student Ambassador and helps with events such as open days and space camp. He said about his ambassador experience:
“I have worked at lots of events, helping with setting up and speaking to potential students. I have helped with graduation, Cornwall UCAS, Open Days and even Space Camp, it’s really varied and a lot of fun”
