Tomorrow's talented creatives wowed parents, friends and VIP guests at this year's Creative Arts Summer Show (CASE) at Truro and Penwith College.

Now in its 19th year, the exhibition showcases outstanding final projects from students studying A Level Art, 3D Art & Design and Foundation Art. The diverse collection explores powerful themes, personal experiences and unique perspectives, brought to life through a wide range of creative media.

Among the standout pieces was a moving 3D cuboid design by Paria. Originally from Iran, Paria has flourished at the College despite English not being her first language. Drawing on her own experiences as an immigrant, her work explores identity, belonging and adaptation.

“The design combines my love of both engineering and design, reflecting the segmented world immigrants often feel they live in something I experienced myself when my family moved to live and work in another country,” she explained.

The theme of human connection featured prominently throughout the exhibition. Foundation Art student Phoebe explored interactions with strangers through journals, drawings and paintings, examining how brief encounters can shape our understanding of the world.

“Talking to people, even fleetingly, shows us that a world exists beyond our own lives,” said Phoebe.

Inspired by the Roman Emperor Augustus, Celia created a bicycle installation exploring the cyclical nature of politics and history.

“By spinning its wheel, you’re invited to see this for yourself,” said Celia, who is progressing to study History at university.

A Level Fine Art student Kim also highlighted the supportive and collaborative environment within the Creative Arts department.

“I especially like the way you have fellow creatives around you, so you can bounce ideas off each other,” she said.

Kim will continue her artistic journey by progressing to the Foundation Art course at the College.

Head of Faculty for Art and Design at the College, Arlo Tinson said: “The Creative Arts Summer Show continues to celebrate the exceptional talent, creativity and ambition of Truro and Penwith College students, providing a platform for the next generation of artists and designers to showcase their work and share the stories behind it.”
