Ethan and Ryley are the first to admit that starting college can feel nerve-wracking. But within a few weeks of beginning their hospitality course at Truro and Penwith College, they’d made friends, and they say that after a month, you’re loving life.
Now in their second year, they’re still close and always making plans to hang out. They’ve found the lecturers friendly and always happy to help if you need to ask something, and they rate the skills they’ve learned. The course has also improved their teamwork and communication, which they say makes the whole experience better.
They say the most impressive part is getting to meet well-known chefs like Paul Ainsworth, Rick Stein and Jack Stein, and being able to go to festivals like Rock Oyster. And because catering students spend most of their time in the same few buildings, the campus doesn’t feel too big.
For anyone on the fence, their message is to take a chance on it. If you don’t like it, you can always change, but they think it’s probably the best option, and a risk that’s worth taking.
